Note to self:  When purchasing a home, please remember that taking on an entire remodel and having three children will equal complete chaos.

I wish I had written that before we started closing on our first home.  Quite honestly though, our kids have been involved every step of the way and I would not have changed any of it.  Well, except major flus, almost third degree burns and getting infected by a water demon parasite (ya that happened) . This year has been anything but normal, oh but what a ride.

Our home is a 2300 sq. ft. American Row House.  When we bought it, it has carpet, floor tile and horrible pumpkin peach walls.  We demo'd.  Stress reliever anyone?  I loved chipping tile, pulling carpet and trim...  There isn't much of this project that I didn't love.

For the fireplace I primed the tile, painted it and then stenciled with a chalk paint.  After about 24hrs I used a protective matte coating over it.

 The beam was off a 1920's farmhouse in Seattle, Wa that we spent hours sanding, staining and coating with polyurethane.

My husband made both the blanket ladder and coat rack (cause he is amazing).

For the shiplap we used plywood sheets that Lowes cut for us.  We spaced it with a quarter and nailed it.  That project took about two hours.  We painted with primer and boom! done.
